New Jersey: Morristown paid sick leave ordinance goes into effect

January 1, 2017

On September 14, 2016, Morristown’s Mayor Dougherty signed an ordinance requiring employers to provide eligible employees with paid sick leave. The new ordinance requires employers to provide employees with 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked. Employers with 10 or more employees may cap the amount of sick leave for each employee at 40 hours per year. Employers with fewer than 20 employees may cap the amount at 24 hours per year.
