Iowa: New rules regarding how employers may provide pay stubs go into effect

July 1, 2018

On March 7, 2018, Governor Reynolds signed House File 2240. The new law allows employers to meet their obligation to provide a wage statement to employees each payday by:

  • sending it to employees by mail
  • providing it by secure electronic transmission
  • providing a copy to employees at employees’ normal places of employment
  • providing electronic access to view the statement that also allows employees’ to print it for free
  • The new law becomes effective on July 1, 2018.
